WA served as the Architect and Engineer of Record for the redevelopment of a 700,000 SF urban retail complex. The improvements were coordinated with the City of South Miami and its Hometown Plan. The new complex utilizes a pedestrian oriented “Main Street” concept which converted The Shops at Sunset Place into a focal point for the entire Central Business District.
The Shops at Sunset Place is a multi-level, open-air shopping center which was designed as a collection of independent buildings around internal streets and plazas, with a cohesive architectural theme uniting the various components. 516,312 SF of leasable space for retail, entertainment and restaurants and 34,275 SF for residential units. The incorporation of arcades, landscaped walks and plazas created an attractive, safe environment for both tourists and locals. The expansion also included an addition to the existing parking garage creating a 580,000 SF, eight-level structure for 1,700 parking spaces. |
