WA provided complete planning, architectural and engineering services for the design of the 40,000 SF building to house the City of Hialeah Police Department as an addition to an existing government complex. The concept and configuration are a result of careful consideration of a number of factors including the building type, the required functions, the location on the site, and the civic image of stability and formality it portrays. A natural buffer was provided between those areas to which the public has access and those restricted to officers and employees. Entrances are strategically located for each type of activity. The new and existing buildings have been integrated into one Police Administration with more efficient internal circulation, elimination of disruption by visitors and improvement of overall facility functions.
The project was the winner of the American Institute of Architects Committee on Architecture for Justice and was published in the AIA Architecture for Justice Exhibition. |
