In collaboration with Florida Power & Light Energy Services FPLES), WA provided architectural, engineering and construction management services for the design and construction of a major new central chiller plant and piping distribution system to serve the new American Airlines Arena. The new chiller plant is modular in design which can be expanded to provide chilled water from one consolidated location to support several large facilities.
The uniqueness of this plant is the utilization of a rather large Thermal Energy Storage (TES) System of 51,000 ton-hour capacity coupled with the use of electric chillers. The plant was designed to produce and distribute low temperature chilled water at an approximate temperature of 35 degrees F. |
