The Northwest Regional Library for Broward County, is a 72,000 SF, state-of-the-art facility located Coral Springs, FL. The building's dynamic structure is characterized by its striking shape along a sweeping curve across the entire front of the building creating a bold statement that stands by itself. A strong response was to create its own identity with the presence as a “regional library”, in a site shared with another project. The building is a two-story, concrete structure with “public” areas defined in the first floor, encompassing areas for children's reading, children's workshop, and teen/young adult's area. The second floor was designed for more specialized reading, and geared for more mature patrons. Reading areas are situated next to a glazed wall overlooking an exterior Plaza, for casual/light reading. Exterior reading areas in the building's front plaza –flanked by elegant Royal Palms and comfortable sitting-is also provided. Interior, more serious reading in a 200 ft. natural “light-well, court-type" setting, is also provided for convenience and more privacy. An open 2-story 250 SF central lobby welcomes the public and guides people to the many areas distributed throughout the building. |
