As part of a Joint Venture, WA provided MEP engineering services as well as fire protection services to American Airlines for the conditional analysis, and development for the complete rehabilitation and refurbishment of an existing hangar for use by American’s fleet maintenance at Miami International Airport. The project encompassed a total of approximately 250,000 SF of renovations including modernization and renovations of two (2) floors of an adjacent 11-story building.
The electrical design included complete removal and replacement of the hangar’s 30 year old 60Hz (480/277 volt 3-phase and 120 volt 1-phase) normal and emergency power distribution systems, design of a new energy efficient lighting system throughout the hangar facility. Mechanical design included installation of a new air-cooled chiller for the pre-conditioned air system. Preparations were made for the future design of a smoke evacuation system for the entire high-rise building. |
